MEET LUKE SHAFFER

ENCINITAS NATIVE ROOTS

Luke Shaffer is a proud native of Encinitas with an impressive and diverse background. With deep roots in the community, Luke has a strong connection to the people and places that make Encinitas unique. His early education at Ocean Knoll, Oak Crest, San Dieguito Academy, and La Costa Canyon helped shape his leadership skills, guided by local teachers and staff. His family is well-known for their volunteer work and contributions to youth sports and schools, significantly influencing the true character of Encinitas.

COACH LUKE

As a coach at LCC High School, Luke not only imparts athletic skills but also emphasizes teamwork, aiming to shape the youth into outstanding individuals both on and off the field.

FAMILY

Luke and his wife are raising their young family in Leucadia and are active members of their coastal community. Together, they continue to contribute to Encinitas’ vibrant, diverse, and laid-back charm.

VETERAN

Luke served as an F-18 pilot in the US Marine Corps’ highly regarded “Black Knights” squadron based in Miramar. In the USMC, Luke was recognized for his leadership in combat and training situations, both overseas in the air and on the ground. He led a deployment in Iraq, training local police officers to combat terrorism, and was known for making critical decisions, prioritizing safety, and uniting his team for successful outcomes. Luke left the USMC honorably, with many decorations, to spend more time with his family and raise his kids in the same coastal beach town he grew up in.

WHY CITY COUNCIL?

Having spoken at city council meetings on behalf of the community regarding the developments impacting many neighborhoods, Luke realized that the citizens of Encinitas need a stronger voice. Registered as an independent, Luke is not dedicated to any political party or developer. He believes the council should be willing to hear residents’ concerns and uphold the values and character of Encinitas. Luke is running for city council to ensure that Encinitas remains the beloved community we all know and cherish.
